![]() In 2017, the Belgians in Victoria gathered several times to celebrate their culture. In May we helped our good friend and blacksmith Estebaan during the Blacksmith Festival in Maribyrnong, selling Belgian beers and waffles. The Club received long known Belgian friends as well as newbies during the National Day with a pub Trivia, the Mussels Festival and also Saint Nicholas and his loyal Pete didn't forget visiting Melbourne. In August we were invited together with the Belgian Ambassador to attend the Tottenham Hotspur - Atletico Madrid game at the MCG. As the previous year we decided to organise a charity auction, this time for the Olivia Newton John Cancer and Wellness Centre, raising $800 for the squad signed shirt donated by Tottenham Hotspur. This year we gave the BCV picnic a "sporty" twist by organising it at Dendy Park Soccer Centre where everyone could play either soccer or tennis. Proud to mention the attendance of Geoffrey Claeys, our ex-Belgian soccer player still running a soccer academy here in Melbourne. Below some more snapshots to cherish these moments:

I am not sure if the event was fun because I was not there. But I am hoping that all people who got the chance to attend the Tottenham Hotspur - Atletico Madrid game was able to enjoy it. I know that it's pretty hard to enjoy an event that is being held outdoors because the weather might not be fine. But still, if there were several activities that were associated with it and you guys had fun, then I am pretty sure that it was all worth it! I am hoping that this will happen this year!
