![]() Finding a job in Australia is not always easy. While there are a number of jobs in high demand, it may take a while before you find employment. Australia is very big on networking and expects applicants to follow Australian guidelines when it comes to resumes and job applications. It is not so much what you know, but who you know! As a result, a lot of jobs are not advertised or only internally, yet proactively sending applications or giving a call to companies might help.
Jobs may be advertised in local newspapers and online. Among the most well-known websites are: Seek, CareerOne, Adzuna and JobSearch. The latter one is also a helpful tool to find farmwork, when you are looking to extend your working holiday visa with a second year. However, websites as such cost a lot of money for companies to advertise. Therefore, LinkedIN is also a very important and useful tool in your job search. Make sure your profile is up to date and you can set your settings such, that recruiters can see the area you're interested in. Similarly, it can help to take up contact with recruitment agencies. They have their network established, and they can help you to get a foot in the door or even help adapt your resume to local standards.
